To all those who come to the ASKC for information, fellowship and experiences in the field of astronomy:

Due to the measures and guidelines set forth by local, state and federal government agencies, we are temporarily suspending all ASKC general meetings, educational and offsite events and all events at Powell Observatory.

The UMKC campus has closed their facilities until further notice so we will not be holding any general meetings at Royall Hall on the UMKC campus until further notice.  Warko Observatory has also been closed for this time.

This means at the least that there will be no ASKC general meetings on Saturday, March 28th or Saturday, April 25th.  We are currently exploring the possibility of using a platform such as Zoom to teleconference our general meeting guest speakers so that anyone with internet access can sign in and view the speaker.  Stay tuned as we will update this webpage as more information is available.

All private and public events at Powell Observatory have also been temporarily suspended.  This means that until further notice, Powell Observatory will not be open for our usual Saturday, public nights, which were scheduled to start on May 2.  Private night reservations for the observatory are also temporarily suspended.

We appreciate the patience and understanding that has been shown to us and others through this difficult time.  Please continue to check this website for updates and we are continuing to work on our teleconferencing capabilities.
