I just read an article about a Google report stating there is a huge spike in searches for Stargazing.

If you don't want to go to the site, one of the sadly funny parts of the article is regarding a survey of 3,000 British adults conducted by 3GEM Research and Insights. Some statistics:

Over half (61%) of Brits do not know that our Galaxy is called the Milky Way.
17% think the galaxy is called “Earth”.
A fifth of Brits (20%) believe the Sun is a planet.

I have no idea if Americans would fare any better and considering my experiences at Powell, I would say probably not.

If you read the entire article, though, there is some good news as well so take the above with a block of salt.
