Our September Club Member Starparty at Powell last night was great fun and well attended - we had 24 club members oout under the stars. Many new folks and several with brand new telescopes seeking help and advice about the hobby. Great discussions.

The enthusiasm was 150% and we did have good views of the crescent Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, double stars and bright globulars early in the evening. There was a lot of social chatting about telescopes and ways to find our way around the sky. My special thanks to senior club members who helped and welcomed many novices who wanted assistance - including Kathy and Gil Machin, Matt Higgins, Pete Jafferis, and Denise Moser and a few others who helped out answering questions from new and novice members.

Later in the evening (11pm) the sky was getting quite hazy from the wildfires I believe. But I think we helped a lot of new people to the club, and I count it as a full success.

My thanks again to Jerel Williams who helped with email communications for the starparty.

Hi David,
This was my first star party, and my experience was excellent (I really can't express in words). One thing I would definitely like to say is, everybody were open / ready to help. For an amateur person like myself, who has entered the astronomy world so recently, it was so motivating and exciting as well.

Thanks once again David H., David Y. (back at the observatory, helped me charge my telescope.. LOL), Rick, Denise and everybody at the Star Party for their valuable inputs. Looking forward to such another star parties as well.

Thanks and Regards,
Mihir Daiya
