Last Wednesday we headed south to the Butler DSS. My wife, granddaughter and I decided to brave the heat for an opportunity to observe the Perseids. It was hot, but the wind made it bearable. The sky wasn't excellent, but anytime you can see the Milky Way it is good. The wind subsided mid-evening, which allowed for some telescope time. My granddaughter, also a ASKC member, was fascinated by the number of meteors she saw. It was a memorable evening for my wife and I, lying in bed watching through the tent screen as the Perseids painted the sky.

Knowing how bad this summer has been, I would like to thank Scott for his efforts in keeping the DSS facility in the great shape we found it.
