If you go to Powell in the next week or two you may notice it smells a lot like a Thai restaurant. Last Monday I put down the first dose of a mosquito repellant. John Fitzgerald and Rick Hildebrand met me at Powell on Tuesday to work on the dome. Rick did the trimming and John pulled some weeds AND helped me treat the rest of the grounds. The all natural repellant has oils from lemon grass, garlic, citronella, cedar, and rosemary, Geraniol and sodium lauryl sulphate, what ever in the heck that is. If it works to reduce the mosquitos it may be worth considering at the DSS. We'll find out Saturday night and possibly discuss using it again for the HOASP.

It could be a few things if you’re picking up a strange smell. Sometimes, it’s just cleaning products or soaps, especially if they have things like sodium lauryl sulfate. It’s a common ingredient in many shampoos and body washes, and it can give off a bit of a funky odor, especially if you're sensitive to it. You might want to check the labels of recent products you’ve used. Or, it could be something else around the house—like plumbing issues or mold. If it’s bothering you, maybe start by first checking the usual suspects. If you're curious, you can look up more about the price of sodium lauryl sulphate price to see what’s in your products.

The natural repellant sounds like a great idea, especially with all those oils—it must smell pretty interesting with the lemon grass and garlic! It’s good to hear that John and Rick were able to help with the dome, too.

It is likely used in this mix to keep the product adhered to the vegetation. Similar products are sold for that purpose to use with herbicides.Sent via Gmail from  David Young youngmdavid@gmail.com

Sodium lauryl sulfate (C12H25SO4Na) is a surface-active agent used in cleaning and cosmetic products. It is also known by the term sodium dodecyl sulfate. It is used in industrial strength degreasers, floor cleaners, bubble bath and toothpastes.

Like it or not we are exposed to this chemical in our shampoos, soaps, cosmetics, and toothpastes, so I wouldn't worry about its use to repel mosquitos.
